Collection: Auricula
Discover our collection of Primula auricula, grown at our specialist UK nursery. These characterful alpine plants have been treasured by growers for centuries and became especially popular during the Victorian era.
Originating from the Alps, auriculas prefer cool conditions, light semi-shade and free-draining compost. Avoid positions where plants will overheat during summer. We recommend a balanced mix of John Innes No. 2, multi-purpose compost and horticultural grit.
Types of Primula auricula
- Border auriculas
- Alpine auriculas, including gold- and light-centred forms
- Double auriculas
- Show striped and self auriculas
- Show green- and grey-edged auriculas
- Show fancy auriculas
Border, alpine and double auriculas can be grown outdoors throughout the year, either planted out or kept in containers. Show types benefit from protection from rain and harsh weather until after flowering, such as in a cold greenhouse, polytunnel, cold frame or covered porch. Move them to a cool, airy position for summer.
Our auriculas are supplied in 7cm pots.
