Collection: A-Z Collectors Succulents

Succulents should be grown outside in natural light in the Summer to achieve the best colours but must be winter protected as the majority of these are not hardy in the UK. Conservatory, bright window seal, or a warm green house. We actually keep ours in an unheated green house but we insulate ours using bubble wrap, and use horticultaral fleece on very cold nights. We are based in the south, so our cold nights might not be as survere as some areas in the UK!
We tend to use the same mix of soil for our Auriculas as we do our Hostas and Succulents, but just altering the amount of grit! So that is 1 part John innes No.2, 1 part multi purpose and 1 part grit. We do add extra grit however for the succulents, making it more of a 50/50 ratio.

We love our collection of Succulents, and are keen collectors ourselves! We tend to grow all of ours in terracotta pots, including some terracotta shallow pans.
They live out side on the nursery in full sun all morning, and in light shade by the afternoon, to avoid the intense Summer heat as their leaves can burn up and scorch if they are too hot. We then tuck them up in our green house during the winter to keep them warm and dry.

A small key point about watering these plants: most people who have troubles either don't water them at all or over water them with too much love and wonder why they don't do so well. Keep them on the drier side through the winter, maybe the odd good drink now and then on the odd sunny winters day. If you are growing them indoors you will find they require more water then they would do in a cold environment. Come Spring they require a little more water as they are wanting to grow. Once they are outside in the Summer months if they are a mature plant they may need a good soak and then let them completely dry out until they need watering again this keeps them looking lush! They can handle more water in the Summer then people realise.
Our succulents for sales are grown in a selection of sizes please see their descriptions,
but in general they are grown in 5.5cm, 8.5cm 10.5cm and 13cm pots.
Our range of succulents we offer are sourced from all over the world, we stock a good basic range from European growers, a small range of rarer varieties sourced from Korea and China, and other succulents we have propagated at our nursery from our own collection.
So we hope there will be something to take you fancy x
